What a soothing piece of music playing in the air… let’s hang around for a little longer…
We were at the Cheras Leisure Mall yesterday and while waiting for time to pass before the next appointment, we were enjoying a piece of music playing in the Mall.
We were standing against the railing looking down at the activities below.
It took us a while to realise that the piece of music was being “performed” and
not played via a music machine.
“Let’s go down and have a look!”
This guy is Wilson Lema and
he was using some bamboo instruments,
including the hanging metal bars in front of him,
to play the musical pieces.
And he played them beautifully
~ resulting the feelings of peace, harmony and relaxation
as I drowned in the pieces.
I even video taped a glimpse of his performance with my BlackBerry.
(Dare not stand and tape for too long, scare violate whatever copyright act lah!)
Soulful is a more accurate word to use…
or should it be spiritual??
He was actually standing behind the counter
which displayed his VCDs and products from the native Americans for sale.
“Only good dreams would be allowed to filter through . . .
Bad dreams would stay in the net, disappearing with the light of day.”
They hang a dreamcatcher in every room!
A rather unique and thoughtful thing to do indeed, yes?!
The moment I reached home, I searched the internet for Wilson Lema (also known as Southern Spirit)
and found the following from YouTube. After the performance below, you can continue to watch the next one and the next one. There are a few of his performances in YouTube!
Personally, I feel that this guy should be placed on the stage at the Mall
instead of being hidden behind the counter.
What a waste?
And really “wai wat” (belittling) the talented Wilson Lema.
Do you agree?
